Acknowlegements

I would like to start my Journal by saying thank you to the people who encouraged, advised, and supported me to get going with my own website. Firstly, to my wife Liz for patience combined with support and advice. Thank you to Dómnhal Slattery, CEO of Avolon, for a week of great conversation on the Antarctic Plateau as we skied towards the South Pole in January 2019 and for your encouragement and advice. Thanks to friends and successful speakers: Alan Chambers, Ann Daniels, Pat Falvey, Mark Hannaford, Alastair Humphreys, Hannah McKeand, Lewis McNaught, Richard Parks, and Ben Saunders for encouragement and advice. A special thank you to Paul Deegan for help and advice beyond the call of duty.

For video credits thank you to Martin Hartley for filming at the Royal Geographical Society; to Nick Struthers-Frost and World Extreme Medicine; to Adil Oliver and Medics Academy for permission to use their footage; and to Paul Deegan. Thanks to Nik Barrow for video editing.

Finding the right partnership to design and build a website is no easy task and after a number of false starts and options which weren’t quite right for me, I was fortunate to find PixelHaze. I have really enjoyed working with Elwyn Davies and his team at PixelHaze including Ken Rees and Will Hammond. All credit for the design and function is theirs, any criticism of the content is my responsibility. You have seen the results of their work and I highly recommend them if your website needs a revamp or major surgery.
