Steve Jones has spent 25 years leading expeditions and managing operations in far-flung places. Yes, his talks are inspirational, but that isn’t the point.
His experiences are so out of the ordinary they will enthral any audience. Their impact is the combination of his nine-lives-rapidly-being-lost experiences, with perspectives into planning, risk, leadership and team work for people who aren’t travelling to K2 or The North Pole.
He worked in finance and banking in London for eight years, was an expedition leader and country director for Raleigh International for seven years, and the base manager of the largest non-governmental operation in Antarctica for Antarctic Logistics & Expeditions LLC. He has hard-won leadership experience in high-risk environments where decisions saved lives.

I am an expert on the planning of international expeditions and extreme ventures. I bring my corporate perspective from years of being responsible for the safety of teams in high risk environments and the in the world’s remotest places.
When things go wrong in Antarctica, they go really wrong very quickly. Fixing them can take more time than is available. I was not there as a single expedition adventurer, I was there as the base and operations manager with direct responsibility for everyone’s safety as well as the delivery of complex, high value projects.
